The Disney Effect

This blog serves to give insight into the "Disney Effect." Through analysis of the princes and princesses in the classic Disney films, this research will study whether or not these stereotypical portrayals of men and women will affect children later on in life. Does seeing images of women as housewives, constantly cleaning and swooning over their meneflect upon the way girls percieve what they can achieve in life? Additionally Disney movies depict the princes as having the ability to charm women. Therefore, does exposure to these representations of men cause young boys to think it is appropriate to use violence as a means of power. A great deal of children watch Disney movies, however if their innacurate stereotypes are seeping into the way children act, the characters could negeatively impact who the children will become when they are older.Through cips of Disney videos depicting the princes and princesses and through readings of extensive studies written about the affects of Disney movies, this blog will answer these questions.
